International Recognition and Publications
In 2023, in response to our research and its coverage by numerous international media outlets, ChatGPT's parent company OpenAI took the AI product offline.
OpenAI published a blog explaining the technical details that led to the issue, and what was done to resolve the flaw. During this investigation, further privacy issues which resulted in payment information being revealed were discovered.
Our research on AI privacy was included in a 2023 CNBC article where OpenAI CEO Sam Altman acknowledged the issue of ChatGPT showing users others' private data as "significant" and noted that it was resolved following the exposure of the vulnerability. Our contribution helped highlight these privacy concerns, leading to a swift resolution by OpenAI.
Our research on privacy and cybersecurity in AI, particularly focusing on ChatGPT, was prominently featured in several esteemed international publications in 2023. The Verge, Gizmodo, Al Jazeera, and India Today published detailed articles that highlighted our findings on the potential vulnerabilities and protective measures essential for safeguarding user data in AI applications. These articles showcased the importance of our work in delivering ethical services, addressing privacy concerns, and promoting better security practices.
Our expertise in cybersecurity was previously reflected in a 2020 WIRED article on malware reuse by state-sponsored hackers, specifically focusing on the Lazarus Group. We contributed by correcting information on advanced hacking techniques and were thanked for our input.
